I can’t remember where I left off last, so this might be a quick recap…

We have a date and we have a place!  On August 16, 2009 Rob and I will be getting married at the Westerville Community United Church of Christ and having our reception at the Confluence Park Restaurant.  The church is right by Rob’s parents’ house.  It has a vaulted wooden ceiling and is really beautiful.  They are allowing Mike to marry us.  The banquet room at Confluence has a fireplace and huge windows that overlook the Columbus skyline and the Scioto River.  We’re going to do engagement pictures with Elena this weekend so we can send our Save the Date announcements out.

Also, I found bridesmaids dresses that I love!  It was so sad that the ones I liked on Jump were not an option since that site was going out of business, but then I found my second pick on Overstock.  I confirmed they had all the sizes we needed and the girls got right on ordering them.  They’re strapless, A-line, tea-length, and periwinkle.  They’re very simple and just want I wanted!  Most of the girls are really excited about them and they were cheap too!  Yay!

Currently, I’m trying to decide on a florist.  I picked out four to look into.  I need to call them and then my wonderful friend Charity has agreed to check them out in person for me.  I’m thinking periwinkle, lavender, deep blues and purples, and maybe some white in hydrangeas, lilies, dahlias, etc.  Any advice is more than welcome!

Coast to Hood and Dancing in the City

I’ve always considered myself to be pretty good at juggling things and making time for everything I want to do.  I think this is the official first time in my life when I’m failing at that.  I constantly finding myself not being able to do everything I want to do (time with friends, uploading pictures, blogging, phone calls home, etc.) and forgetting things I’m supposed to do.  Today for example, I realized at 6: 35 AM in the shower that my scheduling block opened at 8:00 AM.  I had allotted 45 minutes to get ready and 30 minutes to get to work.  Which would put me at 7:45…not enough time to figure out what classes I needed an their call numbers.  Luckily,  Rob was off today and was sweet enough to answer my 6:45 AM wake up call to avert my crisis.  In spite of me constantly reminding myself and learning that I just can’t do everything, somehow Rob is also teaching me a very important lesson.  It’s okay to relax.  Along with our roommates, we’ve been enjoying going through old TV series in order.  Rob downloaded season 1 of Dawson’s Creek (my favorite, naturally) and I got seasons 1-4 of Friends for my birthday.  He never watched Friends and is almost ready to admit that he loves it!

Apart from my TV watching adventures, I’ve actually done lots of new things lately.  I went on a work retreat with the ladies from my internship.  There was hardly any work involved and I got to do my homework while overlooking the Pacific.  The highlight of the trip for me was an hour and a half walk by myself on the beach.  It was gorgeous day — sunny and only a sweater required in January!  I walked all the way to the end where the cliffs met the sand and some quality prayer/reflection time.

I had a fantastic birthday weekend.  I did absolutely no homework!!  Amanda, Nicole, Sarah, Rob, and I went dancing at the Crystal Ballroom for 80s night.  I slept in on Saturday morning and Rob and I went to Mt. Hood for the afternoon/evening.  We went tubing (like sledding with inner tubes), visited the Timberline Lodge (a beautiful lodge built by a work crew during the New Deal at the timberline on Mt. Hood), and had dinner at a little place in a small town called Government Camp.  It was the most perfect day.  It was barely in the 30s during the day, it was so clear, you could see the full moon in the daylight and the mountains far in the horizon at sunset.  We picked up wine and ice cream on the way back into town and watched Dawson’s Creek with Bethany.   I slept in again on Sunday and we went to the Rockstar (noon) service.  Afterward, everyone (Beth, Bekah, Sarah, Amanda, Nicole, Elena, Rob, and Bethany) had lunch at one of my favorite crepe places on Hawthorne.

This past weekend, Rob and I went swing dancing with another couple (Nicole from class and her husband Rob) for Valentine’s Day.  It was great!  There was a lesson first, which really helped me, but Rob didn’t agree.  And then just dancing with a live band.  We picked up some moves for the wedding and definitely want to go again!  My next task is to teach Dad the moves so our father daughter dance can be to a big band song…that should be interesting!
